Most people only know vinegar to be an ingredient for cooking, typically for salad or glazes. Little do they know that vinegar also has natural health benefits and has been used for generations as a natural remedy for various health problems. More specifically, Apple Cider Vinegar with “mother” is very popular amongst those that are healthy conscious. The “mother” refers to the vinegar’s unfiltered state and therefore retains most of its nutrients and enzymes that aid and enhance our bodily functions. If you don’t already drink 1-2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar twice a day, then you should read these health benefits which will change your mind.
- It will keep your blood sugar levels in check. Apple Cider Vinegar is very popular natural health remedy amongst patients with type 2 diabetes. Even people who dont have diabetes can have blood sugar problems, which can cause premature aging and lead to chronic diseases. In order to prevent high blood sugar one should stay away from excess sugar and refined carbs, however, for those of you that find it difficult to change your diet immediately, vinegar can help stabilize your sugar levels.
- It is rich in Acetic Acid which can help kill bad bacteria. The process in which Apple Cider Vinegar (and vinegar in general) is made is similar to alcohol such as wine. It is a two step process in which apples are crushed to yeast which ferments the sugars and becomes alcohol. Next, bacteria is added to the solution which helps ferment the alcohol and turns it into acetic acid which is the primary element in vinegar. Vinegar was traditionally used for surface level antibacterial purposes but has now expanded in its usefulness.
- Can help you lose weight. Although weight loss changes won’t happen overnight, drinking Apple Cider Vinegar every day can help your body lose excess fat. All of the aforementioned benefits directly help you lose weight because your body is constantly on a mild detox with the use of apple cider vinegar. This detoxing helps your body to absorb more nutrients from your healthy foods and is able to process it more efficiently so that it becomes more useful energy for your body. Drinking two tablespoons of vinegar twice a day can also help increase your feelings of fullness which will decrease your caloric intake; this is what causes you to gradually lose weight over a span of months. That being said, solely relying on vinegar to do the heavy lifting of your weight loss journey is an unrealistic task. Although, it may help you lose a couple pounds altogether, it is important to change your eating habits along with vinegar as a weight loss aid. Vinegar will enable your body to perform its natural tasks better. Unfortunately, vinegar wont produce weight loss miracles on its own.
These are only a few of the benefits to drinking a few tablespoons of vinegar a day. The perfect dosage ranges between 1-2 tablespoons twice a day (once in the AM and once in the PM. Some people like to dilute it in water and some people just chase it with water.
