Trend Spotlight: Teatox

As you all know, the current trend on social media, especially on instragram, is the teatox. Just like many other health trends, this trend is spreading like wildfire across the world. Although juicing and shakes, are still predominant in the health industry, it seems that the teatox is the new frontrunner. A teatox is designed to nourish and cleanse the digestive system. Since the digestive system is the pivot of health and fitness, it is no secret as to why teatoxes are so effective and popular. Especially when people’s diets are deteriorating, adding tea to your diet can be a big game changer.

There is more than just one “routine” or plan within the teatox industry. I have tried two programs that are the leading companies within the world of teatoxing. One plan includes a colon cleanse as well as an herbal tea like SkinnyMeTea from Australia. Their 14 day teatox program includes two packets: a colon tea and a loose leaf tea. The colon cleanse is an herbal that essentially works as a laxative. It is meant to eliminate waste and buildup in your body more naturally than laxative pills would. This also serves a detoxification purpose. This tea blend is instructed to be taken every other night.

The second packet containing the loose leaf tea, which is formulated with ingredients such as green tea, dandelion, and lemon grass to give your energy and vitality. These ingredients provide antioxidants and nutrients to the body and essentially give it a bit of a boost. This loose leaf tea is instructed to be taken every morning with breakfast.

This 14 day teatox that SkinnyMeTea provides, is a great method to get a more regular bowel movement for those of you that experience irregularities. It is, however, suggested that you do not extend the use of the colon cleanse pack because your body may become dependent on it.

The second leading teatox company is YourTea. They provide a 14 or 28 day plan and their routine does not have a colon cleanse plan like SkinnyMeTea does. Therefore, there is no laxative effect. This tea is meant to be taken 3 times a day 30 minutes prior to or after eating. The TinyTea teatox is specifically designed to assist with bloating, indigestion, problematic skin (acne), reduction of excess weight, and many other problems. All of these problems go hand in hand with how you’re taking care of your body and what you’re putting into it. Acne is often caused by nutritional deficiency or buildup of waste which causes excess oil production and TinyTea helps balance out the body and clears it of impurities. Unlike many of the teatox brands out there, YourTea is based off of traditional Chinese medicine principles, which encourages you to be proactive about your health.

There is some debate on which brand/routine is favorable. So here is my transparent conclusion: For those of you who need a brief pick me up to reduce bloating, I would suggest going on the SkinnyMeTea plan as it has the laxative effect and will help you reduce the bloating in the short term. For those of you that are looking to change your habits to become healthier and want to make a long term improvement, then I would suggest the YourTea brand. You can drink it up to 52 consecutive days before it is suggested that you let your body function naturally.  See what works for you!
