Getting that clean hair look after a workout: Dry Shampoo
Posted on 24 February 2015
How many of you wash your hair every day after a workout? I’m sure by now you’ve noticed those split ends. It has become so difficult to comb through your locks with just your bare fingers, even though you just got them trimmed a couple weeks ago.
Washing your hair every day, though it feels great knowing that you're sweat free, isn’t ideal for your hair. It strips your hair of its natural oils, making it dry and brittle. In this condition, your hair won’t grow as fast or be as shiny as you want it to.
This is why Dry Shampoo is the answer to all of those problems and more. Dry Shampoo is, simply put, a powder that absorbs excess oil. In order to use dry shampoo properly, comb through your hair and apply the shampoo only to your roots. For those of you that are in a rush, just let the dry shampoo sit for a couple of minutes while you wash your face or shower the post workout sweat off of your body, then brush it out. This saves you time in the locker room. If you plan on just staying at home after working out, then you can get the best results by leaving the dry shampoo over night to wake up to fresh, clean looking hair.
The great thing about dry shampoo is that you can use it for several days after washing your hair. It’s great on second to third and sometimes even fourth day hair, depending on how often you work out and how much you sweat. It’s perfect for when you're in a time crunch and don’t have time to wash/dry your hair between a work out and rushing to work. As a bonus it gives your hair more texture and a little volume boost as well. Celebrities have been using tricks like these to keep their hair beautiful and healthy. You deserve to have hair just as gorgeous as the people you see on television.
Remember, you’re working out to take care of your figure and health. Give your hair the same tender care.
Here are some products for you to try.
Klorane Dry Shampoo is top of the line, leaving little to no white cast which some cheaper and low quality dry shampoos do. You hair will benefit from its gentle nature, as it contains oat milk which also helps strengthen your hair. Depending on the store, you can buy a can between $15-$20. This brand leaves minimal white residue, which is ideal for those of you with darker hair.
For those of you on a budget, try Dove Refresh+Care Dry Shampoo. It’s around $5.50 and you can buy it most Target, Walmart, and even amazon.com.
Tresemme makes an even cheaper Dry Shampoo which has great ratings as well. It is sold for around $4.98 at Target and Walmart.
Those of you that have colored hair, i.e. red, brunettes, black hair, Batiste has colored dry shampoo to help minimize the time you spend on combing out that white cast.
Hope this helped all you gym savvy gals keep looking fresh longer!
